In April, I was privileged to spend 5 days, as part of a 6 month modular course, with a wonderful and devoted group of Yoga teachers in Sussex. The Quilt Retreat was such a special place (sussexretreats.co.uk) and a perfect place to come together for the introduction to the course “Healing Space” founded and directed by Jude Murray.
Healing Space is devoted to offering in depth and evidence based learning for qualified yoga teachers, who wish to work with people living with cancer, stroke and other long term or life- threatening conditions. The course is a 90 hours post qualifying course recognised by the Independant Yoga Network ans accredited but the Complimentary Medical Association.
Yoga is not a cure for cancer but it can help you balance both the mind, body and spirit to help you feel and function better. Yoga will help you cope better with diagnosis and treatment. In addition, it can also help alleviate symptoms and side effects such as tiredness, pain, sleep problems and depression. Post treatment, yoga can be a gentle way to help you stay physically active, help you keep calm and centred and reconnect with your body and celebrate life.
